Citizen Teacher- Teach Middle School Students What YOU are Passionate About

Organization:
Citizen Schools
Position:
Citizen Teacher
Job Description:

Citizen Schools is a national non-profit organization serving low income middle school students after school, extending the number of hours spent in an active learning environment. Students who participate in our program are 20% more likely to graduate from high school. A core program element is the project based student apprenticeship. Each semester, generous volunteers (potentially you!) get trained to become Citizen Teachers who co-lead these hands on apprenticeships on a topic of their choosing, and about which they are passionate and knowledgeable- like marketing, robotics, journalism, photography or architecture. For more information about Citizen Schools apprenticeships follow this link: www.citizenschools.org/about/model/apprenticeships/

Citizen Teachers co-teach with a Citizen Schools staff person one afternoon a week. (Mondays or Wednesdays from 4:30-6:00pm) over the course of a ten-week apprenticeship. I personally work in the Bronx and am recruiting for my school there, but we have 6 total locations throughout the city if one of those is more convenient (some of them hold program on other days if M/W doesn't work).
